First, raw water enters the pressure vessel under controlled pressure. Then, it flows through multiple layers of carefully graded filtration media, including:
Graded Quartz Sand
Fine Sand
Super Fine White Sand
Pebbles of progressively larger sizes
Because of this multi-layer structure, the filter bed traps dirt, turbidity, and suspended particles effectively. During the filtration cycle, the media captures impurities and prevents them from moving downstream. Consequently, the treated water becomes clearer and suitable for further processing.
However, as filtration continues, the filter media gradually accumulates retained particles. As a result, the pressure drop across the vessel increases steadily. Once the pressure reaches a predetermined level, the system temporarily stops for cleaning.

Because of this layered design, the filter bed effectively traps dirt, suspended particles, and turbidity. During the filtration cycle, the media captures impurities and prevents them from flowing downstream. Consequently, the water becomes clearer and safer for further treatment.
However, as filtration continues, the filter media gradually accumulates retained particles. As a result, the pressure drop across the filter increases steadily. Once the pressure reaches a predetermined level, the system temporarily stops for cleaning.

To maintain peak efficiency, we implement a structured backwash process. When the pressure drop rises, the system reverses the water flow. Therefore, trapped impurities are flushed out from the filter bed.
After backwashing, we rinse the filter using raw or filtered water. Then, once the required water quality is achieved, the system resumes normal operation. Depending on water quality and application requirements, we perform backwashing with either raw water or filtered water.
Because of this controlled cleaning cycle, the Pressure Sand Filter delivers long service life and consistent filtration performance.
Our Pressure Sand Filter systems include:
Mild Steel (MS), Stainless Steel (SS), or FRP Pressure Vessels
Frontal piping work for smooth and safe operation
Manual or Automatic Multiport Valves
Butterfly Valves or Conventional Valves for easy control
Furthermore, we offer capacities ranging from 1,000 Liters per Hour (LPH) to 10,00,000 Liters per Day (LPD). Therefore, we can meet small, medium, and large-scale industrial water treatment requirements in Iyappathangal and across Chennai.
